Albert (Al) Herrera

Federal leader in complex program, budget, and policy innovation and implementation.

Mr. Herrera is a highly experienced leader of national programs, resources, and staff with over 23 years of experience across the U.S. Departments of Justice, Homeland Security, and Labor. He most recently was the Administrative Officer for the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Policy and serves as the Senior Advisor on human resources, administrative planning and operations, information technology, and budgeting and financial operations. Previously Mr. Herrera served as the Deputy Administrator for the Department of Labor’s Office of Foreign Labor Certification where he managed case processing at its three national processing centers. Prior to that, he held various leadership positions in the national security, anti-fraud, and immigration fields throughout the United States.

During his career, Mr. Herrera has been recognized by the Departments of State, Labor, Homeland Security, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for his leadership and service to the public.

Mr. Herrera has B.A.’s in Criminal Justice and Psychology from New Mexico State University and is a graduate of the Office of Personnel Management’s Federal Executive Institute Leadership Program.

In his new role as a White House Leadership Development Program Fellow in the Office of Management and Budget’s Office of Federal Financial Management, Mr. Herrera will work to increase public awareness, improve knowledge sharing among agencies, and explore permanent solutions for preventing identity theft. He will also assist in efforts to integrate policy objectives into the design of financial controls.
