Jessica Powers

Ms. Powers is the Director for Space Policy Engagement in the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Space Policy. Prior to assuming her current position, she managed the budget for OSD Policy including its defense agencies and field activities. Previous OSD Policy assignments have included managing bilateral defense relations with Oceania and mainland Southeast Asia and Plans and Programs Coordinator for Eurasia. Ms. Powers joined the Department of Defense as a Presidential Management Fellow with assignments at the Office of Management and Budget, OSD African Affairs, speechwriter to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and OSD/Health Affairs. Before joining the Department of Defense, Ms. Powers was the Managing Editor for the Environmental Change and Security Project at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. In addition to her experience in the Federal government, she has worked in the private sector, recruiting and directing job applicants at AmeriCorp. Ms. Powers has a M.S. from National War College, an M.A. from George Washington University and earned a B.A. at American University.
